Winco, Inc. makes a large line of portable industrial generators to fit any power need.

At the low end, the WC3000H and WT3000H provide 2500 watts of continuous power at 120 volts. Both run on a Honda GX160 engine, although the WT model has a much smaller gas tank (1 gallon vs. 3.5) than the WC, and a correspondingly shorter run time. The WC3000H carries two 15-amp straight blade GFCI receptacles, plus one 20-amp twistlock 120-volt GFCI receptacle and a 30-amp straight blade receptacle. The WT model comes with four 15-amp straight blade receptacles only. The WT3500 is very similar to the WT3000H, but provides surge power of up to 3500 watts.

In the mid-power range, Winco has the WC4500, the W4500, the W4500E, the WC5000H, and the W5000H. They are rated for 4000 - 4500 watts of continuous power and can start a motor of up to 1.5 HP. The 4500s are powered by Briggs & Stratton, while the larger models have Honda engines. Each comes with one 50-amp straight blade 120-volt receptacle, one 30-amp twistlock 120/240-volt receptacle, and various combinations of 15-amp straight blade and 20-amp twist lock 120-volt receptacles. The WC models also have 20-amp twistlock 240-volt receptacles.

For those with slightly larger power needs, the WC6000E, WC6000H, WC6000HE, W6000E and W6000H are all rated for 5500 watts of continuous power at 120/240 volts. All have 4.5 gallon gas tanks, and the model numbers that end in “E” have an electric starter in addition to the standard recoil starting system. The WC6000E and W6000E are powered by Briggs & Stratton engines, while the others have Honda GX340 engines. The W6000E and W6000H do not have automatic idle control, which can cause higher fuel consumption. All of the units come with 120-volt straight-blade and twistlock receptacles in 15-, 20-, and 50-amps; as well as one 30-amp twist lock 120/240-volt receptacle. The WC6000E, WC6000H, and WC6000HE each also have one 20-amp twistlock 240-volt receptacle.

Larger models rated for 8000 - 13,500 watts are also available, and a diesel model rated for 5500 watts completes the line.

Generac’s Automatic Home Standby System

An automatic home standby system works as an emergency power source. If, for whatever reason, local power to your home is shut off, Generac’s controller automatically switches on the standby generator, and brings the lights back on! Generac’s trademarked Bi-Fuel technology is a way of hybridizing a power generator’s engine, so that it runs simultaneously on both diesel and natural gas. Although, as Generac is first to admit, the idea to create a dual-fuel engine is not new, Generac is the first manufacturer to apply it to standby power generators – at an affordable price.

Coleman’s Premium Line of Generators

The Coleman Premium line of generators is made up of 7 models, or maybe better described as 7 generator models or variations of those models. These units are designed with the home consumer in mind, and serve a variety of purposes from fun convenient portable power to offering a back-up power supply for your home.

The line begins with the two smallest models: the Pulse 1850 and the Sport 1850. They are actually nearly the same generator. They are both on the same casing and weigh 70lbs dry. Each is powered with a 3.5hp Briggs & Stratton engine, and is designed to run quietly by fully housing the engine, including a noise dampening and spark arresting exhaust, and having rubber feet added to reduce noise and vibration. The difference is the Pulse 1850 comes with four normal wall plugs, where the Sport 1850 comes with two normal wall plugs, and a DC plug. The DC plug allows you to plug in the DC charger and charge a battery. This can be used to charge boat batteries among others, hence the name Sport.

The next step up is a popular model for its unique design: the Ultra 2500. This model bumps up to a 5.5hp Briggs & Stratton engine that sits on a portable hand cart. The engine is accessible, and easy to start, but is not fully protected. It is lightweight at 75lbs and incredibly easy to transport with its permanent portability kit. This is what makes it so popular. At 2500 Watts, it is big enough for a large number of power tools, but as an industrial power generator, may leave a little to be desired.

The Maxa 4000 Generator moves up to an 8hp Tecumseh, and it built into a casing for protection. This model is designed for power tools, and is their first model size to offer a 240 volt outlet. The Wattage rating on the Maxa 4000 is actually 4000 running Watts and 5000 max Watts. The generator is the entry model into the high power class.

The Maxa 5000 Coleman Premium generator is the basis of the final three models in the Premium line.
